Located in Qinghai Province, China, this project features a unique domestic attraction: a salt lake landscape known as the “Mirror of the Sky.” Due to its high-altitude plateau setting, the site is subject to extremely intense ultraviolet radiation and wind speeds that can reach up to Force 10.
Furthermore, the environment is highly corrosive, characterized by exceptionally high salinity levels in the water. In 2018, the client sought to acquire RVs to establish a camping resort and subsequently reached out to our company.
As the product was a novel concept, the client was initially hesitant to commit to a large-scale purchase; instead, they placed a preliminary order for a single “Star Dome” unit (measuring 5 meters + 2.1 meters in diameter). Only after the unit had successfully withstood the rigorous test of four full seasons did the client proceed to place a bulk order for 50 units. The project has been in continuous operation since early 2019.
The transparent main structure of the Star Dome is constructed from imported polycarbonate material, which boasts exceptional corrosion resistance—performing particularly well against salt-mist corrosion. Both sides of the panels are treated with a UV-resistant coating, effectively shielding the interior from the intense ultraviolet radiation characteristic of high-altitude regions and ensuring that the material resists yellowing or aging over time.
The Star Dome is not only capable of withstanding a wide range of harsh weather conditions but also offers a 360-degree panoramic view; this design approach simultaneously preserves the site’s pristine natural topography while creating a unique aesthetic and experiential value.
