Project Story

Located in Xixinan Ancient Town, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, China, this project site boasts a 4-kilometer-long maple and poplar forest wetland, making it one of China’s most popular scenic areas. The local government plans to construct a 1-kilometer-long rail-based miniature train that will serve as both a shuttle and sightseeing route for tourists.

The landscape architects for this project used AI software to generate the earliest concept images of the fully transparent miniature train. The transparent carriages allow visitors to easily enjoy the view of the maple forest overhead, and the concept design was quickly approved by the local government.

Our company began participating in this project in October 2024, assisting with the structural design, mold development, and production of the transparent train carriages. The biggest challenge of the project was the production of the train’s locomotive. The locomotive has a rounded bullet-shaped design, measuring 2.2 meters long * 2.4 meters wide * 2.5 meters high. The design required a one-piece molding without seams, which conventional glass materials could not achieve. Through modifications to the vacuum forming equipment and production site, our company successfully produced the fully transparent train using a one-piece molding process with polycarbonate material. The project officially began operation on May 1, 2015. The train can carry 120 passengers per trip and achieved a daily revenue of 50,000 RMB.

Our company boasts 15 years of experience in polycarbonate thermoforming, with a team comprised of multiple industrial designers, structural designers, and mold designers. We specialize in large-scale and irregularly shaped polycarbonate thermoforming projects. Our past projects include: large stadium roofs, Ferris wheel windows, building roof skylights, and transparent windows for diving jet skis, among others.
